There is an interesting story to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just across the border from next door Thailand, in which gambling hall betting is not permitted. Eight casinos are anchored in a relatively tiny location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent area, a three to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai laborers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The phenomenal income gained from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a few restrictions requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is assumed to be largely Thai; although, investment sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 1700, and even though visas are supposedly required to pass, there are ways around this, as is correct of many borders.

The original Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked boat casino, highlights one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 60 table games. The Naga gambling hall never closes with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of 21, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. There are one hundred and fifty slots and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slot machines and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and 96 table games, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and sixty six of the familiar tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around vacation and hotel building that features a number of luxuries in addition to the gambling hall, which offers 10,000 square feet of 130 one armed bandits and eighty eight tables.
