Cambodia Casinos

There is a fascinating history to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just across the border from nearby Thailand, where gambling den gambling is illegal. Eight casinos are based in a generally tiny area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime spot, a 3 to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The astonishing income gained from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to more than 12.5 million, and there are a few restrictions requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; however, financial sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and even though visas are allegedly necessary to cross, there are ways around this, as is true of most border crossings.

The original Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored boat gambling den, contains 150 slot machines and 60 gaming tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of twenty-one, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long opened. A total of 150 one armed bandits and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 one armed bandits and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 96 table games, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and 66 of the familiar gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an international vacation and hotel compound that contains numerous luxuries on top of the gambling hall, which contains ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 one armed bandits and eighty eight tables.
