Cambodia Gambling Dens
There is an interesting story to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, where gambling hall gambling is not legal. Eight casinos are established in a relatively tiny space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent destination, a three to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest betting centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The amazing capital gained from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of controls constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; still, investment sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and even though visas are apparently required to pass, there are means around this, as is true of most border crossings.
The 1st Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored ship casino, features 150 slot machine games and 60 gaming tables. The Naga river boat never closes with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of twenty-one, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are 150 slot machines and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machine games and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 one armed bandits and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and sixty six of the normal table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive vacation and hotel complex that features a number of conveniences on top of the casino, which offers 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and eighty eight table games.
